The Craft

Born of Alberta, Made by Hand

"I started Ian's Skulls to share my love of these animals — and the western art they inspire — with the world."

Ian is an Albertan, raised on the western character of the prairies and the foothills. Every skull he finishes is sourced right here at home — reclaimed from Alberta animals on Alberta ranches, never taken for trophy — then cleaned, whitened, and hand-sealed through a patient, multi-week process.

What began as one passion project at a barn workbench is now a quiet tribute to the animals and the land that raised them. Each piece carries that respect forward: smooth horn, stone-cool bone, and an honest western gravity that turns a wall into a story.

The Four-Stage Finish

A deliberate process that turns reclaimed bone into a sealed, archival heirloom.

01

Reclaim

Every specimen comes from Alberta ranches — naturally and ranch-reclaimed loss, documented and traceable, never hunted for art.

02

Clean & Whiten

Weeks of gentle cleaning and sun-true whitening preserve the bone's natural grain without harsh bleaching.

03

Finish

Horns are hand-polished, hairline cracks stabilized, and the whole piece sealed for an antique, archival surface.

04

Profile & Ship

Each piece is measured, profiled, and crated in a custom mount-ready box, insured to your door.
